Automatic battles: prepare, then watch

Understand battle order, level rewards, move training, and the preparation that decides a fight.

Automatic combat makes the decisions before battle matter. You choose your roster, order, and equipment; the game plays the encounter in an illustrated arena with both teams visible, elemental effects, and battle sound cues.

Read the opening matchup

Speed decides who attacks first when the fighters have different Speed stats. Health, Attack, Defense, move power, elemental effectiveness, and held items also affect the result.

The current app uses the creature’s primary element for its move and combat matchup. A secondary type shown in the website catalog does not add another damage multiplier in this build.

Win levels and train moves

Winning a wild battle grants one level, a trainer battle grants two, and a Guardian grants three to eligible participants. Creatures that entered the encounter alive can receive the level reward.

Move Training improves a selected move through levels I, II, and III. Their base powers are 40, 70, and 100. Creature levels and move levels are separate forms of progression. When every move is already level III, you can continue past training.

Prepare for the next fight too

Health carries between encounters, so a win can still leave the team vulnerable. Use healing opportunities and held items to keep enough members ready for the next opponent.

After beating a Guardian, the whole team is revived and fully healed. That recovery makes the final fight of a trial a useful point around which to plan.
